Governors Building Fund

Dear Parents,

As parents you have decided to send your child to a Church school because you know that your child will be educated in a Christian environment and because you know that Christ the King College will provide an excellent education.

We are very proud of the education that we provide at Christ the King College.

However, you may or may not be aware that, as a faith based school, we receive no additional funding. Unlike other countries, the privileges of receiving a faith based education in our country is free to parents.

SO WHY DO WE NEED A BUILDING FUND?

As a Voluntary Aided School, the College only receives 90% of any capital grant funding and is expected to raise the remaining 10% from parental contributions. In order to raise the 10% contribution, the College has established the Governors’ Building Fund.

How much are we asking you to give?

All parents are asked to contribute £10 per child per month to the Governors’ Building Fund.

Alternatively, you may wish to pay this as a lump sum of £120 per year, if this is more convenient for you.

The payment of £10 per month can be paid by regular Direct Debit, and a Direct Debit Mandate form is available for you to complete for this purpose.

DIRECT DEBIT MANDATE FORM

You may also pay via the School Gateway online payment system, where a payment option for the Building Fund can be found. How can we get help from HMRC ?

If you pay tax in the UK, you can add an extra 25% to contribution by completing a Gift Aid Declaration.

The College will then be able to claim Gift Aid from HMRC. For example, if you contribute £120 per year to the Building Fund, that becomes £150 to the College and it has not cost you a penny extra. To enable the College to claim Gift Aid for your contributions, please complete your Gift Aid Declaration and return to the Finance Office at Christ the King College.

Recycle with Michael

We continue to work with The Salvation Army who run a recycle collection scheme for clothing and shoes. Textiles are the UK’s fastest growing household waste stream and people sometimes forget that it’s just as important to recycle your old clothes as some of the more obvious items like newspapers and bottles. Through this scheme we are helping to divert more clothes from landfill and giving them a new lease of life, whilst raising money for both Christ the King College and The Salvation Army, which does such important work in communities throughout the UK.

Please support us by donating any of the following items:

  • Shoes (in pairs)
  • Clothing
  • Handbags
  • Belts
  • Bed linens / blankets
  • Towels

Items should be clean and dry. Don’t worry if items are damaged as they could still be recycled into items such as mattress stuffing, car soundproofing and industrial wipers. The recycling box is at the entrance to the school site on the left.

If you are having a ‘Spring Clean’ please remember to donate to Recycle with Michael.
