Andrew Montrose - Headteacher

Mr. Montrose joined Christ the King College in January 2023, having spent 8 years as Deputy Headteacher at St. Peter’s RC High School in Manchester.

Previous leadership roles were also in Faith schools in Liverpool and Burnley. Our Headteacher completed his degree in English and Physical Education and his teacher training in London, and has held a variety of teaching and leadership roles in a long career spanning three decades. Mr. Montrose has led in all areas of College life, and on all elements of the Ofsted Framework. Overseeing improvement across College, as well as driving forward the joint-faith aspect of Christ the King, are the main areas of focus for the Headteacher.

Lisa Brinton - Senior Assistant Headteacher

Ms Lisa Brinton is one of the Senior Assistant Headteachers within the Senior Leadership Team. Ms Brinton joined Christ the King in January of 2013 as Director of English.

She graduated in English at Leicester University and has been a teacher of English, as well as a Head of Department and various assistant HoD roles, both on the Island, and the mainland, for nearly 30 years. She still very much enjoys her classroom teaching across the age range and is an integral and enthusiastic member of the A Level Literature team. Ms Brinton joined the Senior Leadership Team at Christ the King in 2017. One of her main responsibilities within the College is in the development of Teaching and Learning across the College. She also leads the College’s internal monitoring processes around Teaching and Learning and Assessment, and works with the subject leaders to develop and share good practice in the classroom, as well as curriculum development and impact. Ms Brinton is also responsible for the professional development of teaching staff and the Performance Appraisal process within the College.

Stuart Gurney - Senior Assistant Headteacher

Mr Gurney has undertaken a variety of roles in his teaching career, generally within Physical Education, teacher training and the pastoral life of a school. This has included being head of department, head of year, head of key stage and leading on teacher training.

Having joined the senior leadership team in 2016 is now a Senior Assistant Headteacher, designated safeguarding lead, with the responsibility for whole school safeguarding, attendance, educational trips and visits, formal complaints and transition for students moving from Primary school. Mr Gurney works closely with the non-teaching pastoral support team, Mr Clark (Responsibility for Behaviour) and the Heads of Year. Prior to this role Mr Gurney has overseen the teacher training programme; School Direct and the induction of newly qualifies teachers. Outside of school Mr Gurney enjoys all things sport related ranging from playing cricket to running to watching rugby.

Louise Clark - Assistant Headteacher

Louise Clark is one of our Assistant headteachers, she is our College SENCO. She also oversees key student groups, Literacy across the curriculum, our BTEC courses and extracurricular provision.

Louise joined the Senior Leadership Team in 2019 having been teaching at the College since 2009. Louise came back to live on the Island and started her teaching career in 2003 after completing a Bachelor of Education in PE and Geography at De Montfort University. Louise completed her NPQSL in 2020 and is currently completing the NASENCO award. Louise is passionate about inspiring all students to learn, achieve and believe in themselves.

Richard Clark - Assistant Headteacher

Mr Clark joined Christ the King College as a teacher of Physical Education back in 2010. He has overseen students’ learning as both Head of Lower College and Head of Upper College and joined the Senior Leadership Team in September 2019.

He still maintains an active teaching role in PE across all year groups alongside his Assistant Headteacher responsibility for Student Behaviour. Mr Clark is responsible for Behaviour management, tracking and implementation of College Behaviour initiatives and he works closely alongside the College Year Leaders to monitor behaviour and support the Pastoral aspects of the college.

Oliver Keyworth - Assistant Headteacher

Mr. Keyworth is responsible for the development, planning, and implementation of a broad, balanced, and effective curriculum model. He also provides oversight for the monitoring of student progress and outcomes, driving improvements in the quality of education across the school.

Mr. Keyworth holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH), having completed his Master of Education degree from the University of Southampton in 2020. He has worked in education since 2010 and he has a proven track record in both middle and senior leadership roles expanding over 10 years. Mr. Keyworth also possesses a strong background in Computer Science, a subject he continues to teach at A-Level. He is deeply passionate about school improvement and dedicated to ensuring all students benefit from a curriculum with exceptional breadth and depth, advocating for narrowing the curriculum only when absolutely necessary. Mr. Keyworth is committed to providing students with the essential support and challenge to achieve success.

Hayley Conway-Hughes - Assistant Headteacher/Head of Sixth Form

Hayley Conway-Hughes joined Christ the King College in 2016 as the Head of Sixth Form.

She is still leading the Sixth Form and also now acts as an Assistant Headteacher and EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) Lead. Hayley has 17 years experience in education and teaches Psychology and Sociology at Advanced Level. She has a Masters Degree in Education Leadership and Management. Hayley also has responsibility for student leadership, student voice and parents voice in college.

Kathrin Williams - Business Manager

Mrs Williams joined Christ the King College just prior to its foundation in 2008 and has been involved in the amalgamation of the two previous middle schools and the expansion to our full secondary age range. Mrs Williams has worked as a Secondary School Business Manager on the Island since 2002 and prior to that worked for the Local Authority’s Education Department.

Mrs Williams is part of the Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for the College’s Finance, HR, Premises and Facilities Management. She leads the team of support staff and works alongside the College’s Support Staff Team Leaders for Business Administration & Student Support, Technical Resources & Support, Pastoral Support, SEND & Learning Support and Premises & Facilities.
