Health & CD
The Wonder of Human Life: Health & Social Care and Child Development
Our vocational curriculum invites students into the profound and often miraculous world of human life and care, fostering awe and wonder at the journey of development and the complexity of well-being. From Year 10, students can choose to explore this journey through BTEC Level 2 Health and Social Care or BTEC Level 2 Child Development, with the option to progress to the advanced Level 3 Health and Social Care in Year 12.
Students will also learn about Core skills needed to be effective Health and Social care practitioners and the role that relevant legislation can have on this.
Level 2 Child Development is a vocational course designed for those interested in working with children from birth to around eight years old. It equips students with the knowledge and practical skills to care for children, support their learning through play, and create safe and stimulating environments.
Literacy and Numeracy in Health & CD
Literacy is crucial in Health and social care and Child Development for understanding care plans, medication instructions, and communicating effectively with patients and colleagues. Numeracy is also essential, as it's needed for accurate medication dosages, record-keeping, and navigating healthcare data, such as blood pressure readings.
