At Christ the King College, our Living Well programme brings together Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) and Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) to support students as they grow into confident, compassionate and responsible young people.

Rooted in our Christian ethos, our curriculum recognises the inherent dignity and worth of every person. Inspired by Gospel values and Catholic Social Teaching, we aim to help students develop the knowledge, character, resilience and practical skills they need to flourish, build healthy relationships, make informed decisions and contribute positively to their communities and the wider world.

 

Our programme encourages students to explore important questions about identity, relationships, physical and emotional wellbeing, equality, justice, online safety, financial responsibility, healthy lifestyles, citizenship and preparation for adult life. As students progress through the College, topics are revisited and developed in an age-appropriate way, enabling them to grow in wisdom, confidence and independence.

Our aim and purpose

Through Living Well, we aim to provide a safe, respectful and supportive environment in which students can develop the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the opportunities and challenges of modern life. Our curriculum seeks to:

 

• promote the God-given dignity and worth of every person;
• nurture healthy, respectful and positive relationships;
• develop emotional literacy, resilience and positive mental wellbeing;
• equip students to stay safe both online and offline;
• promote equality, inclusion, justice and respect for others;
• help students make informed and responsible choices about their health and future;
• develop financial literacy, citizenship and preparation for independent adult life; and
• encourage students to use their gifts and talents in service of others and the common good.

 

Our approach is grounded in the belief that education should support the development of the whole person — spiritually, morally, socially, emotionally and physically — preparing young people not simply for examinations, but for life.

Our living well resources

Our Living Well curriculum is supported by Wellio, an educational platform providing age-appropriate PSHE and RSHE resources designed to help young people develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to navigate relationships, wellbeing, safety and adult life. Lessons are carefully reviewed and adapted by the College to ensure they reflect the needs of our students, our school context and our Christian and Catholic values.

Parents and carers can use the Wellio Parent Site linked on this page to browse lesson content and gain a clearer understanding of the topics explored with students.

We also embed selected resources from Pol-Ed, a programme developed with policing expertise to support education around areas such as personal safety, relationships, online behaviour, crime, exploitation and responsible citizenship. These resources help students explore real-world issues, understand the law and develop the confidence to make safe and responsible choices.

Each learning journey is designed to build progressively upon previous knowledge, supporting students as they move from Year 7 through to Sixth Form and prepare for greater independence and adult life.
